Art Applewhite's Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viper Mark I Model Rocket

Art Apple white joins us with his flying version of the Colonial Viper Mk 1 from the original series of Battlestar Galactica. The original designs were downloaded from Paper Toy Box. I converted the .pdf files into .jpg files and did some extensive weathering in Photoshop using the magic wand and airbrush tools. I redesigned the intakes, accurized canopy and engine side details in addition to the dirt, battle scarring and accurized markings.

Art writes: There's a club rocket launch coming up on August 20th. We've designated it a "Viper Launch" because everyone is going try and fly a Viper if they have them. Most of the club members will be flying kits from Estes which aren't very detailed. I design and sell model rocket kits. My website is: If this rocket flies well I would like to make a kit out of it. I resized it, did some modification to simplify it and installed some internal parts to strengthen it so it could be safely flown and recovered with model rocket engines. Here is a picture of the completed model. I flew several versions of the Viper this weekend. Here are a couple of pictures of one of them.
