Complete RTR, 6 Channel, 1/96th Scale U.S.S. Ford FFG-54 - Price - $4,200

USS Ford, FFG-54 of the Oliver Hazard Perry Class of guided-missile Frigates, was named for GMG2 Patrick Osborne Ford (2 May 1942 - 21 June 1968). This is my scratch-built, 1/96th scale, museum quality, radio controlled version. This big girl certainly falls under the heading of a Sirius Replica. Construction began in late 2002, and she was virtually done in early 2005. I think it took me longer than the full scale version (of course, this was working off-and-on). I started with a hard wood frame and basswood panel hull, and then applied 3 coats of polyester resin. The superstructure is balsawood and basswood laminated over with thin polystyrene plastic. It is an extremely tough ship. The SH-60 Seahawk helicopter is a kit from MRC Kangnam. She is completly finished and ready to run. The ship can easily take water on the deck and still keep on going. Inside of the ship stays completely dry. Her size is perfect. Not too heavy or large; very easy to put in the car and take to the local pond for a few hours of sailing. I am selling this model to make room for current and future projects. The model is set up for RC, but can be sold with or without the radio installed. The motor is a Tornado 540, high torque, and delivers plenty of power. I have three 7.2 Volt packs built which provide plenty of amps to spare and will last for quite a long time. Both the air search (large) and smaller sea search RADARs rotate with geared motors. She passed all of her sea trials nicely. This is a rare find and definetly is something you just dont see for sale very often. This ship is built to museum quality standards and serves as an excellent static model and is highly accurate to the real ship. It is also a great RC model with very good performance and installed 6 channel Futaba radio. A custom ship of this nature if you search for some model builders would wind up costing upwards of $5000 or more, plus the wait time will usually be 6 months to 1 year. Local pick up would be the best, however if I need to crate the ship then it can be done as well.

Model Size:  L = 57"   W = 6"
